Ingredients :
COOKIE BASE:
2 cup finely crushed vanilla wafers (50-60)
1/4 cup firmly packed Natural Brown sugar
1/3 cup butter, melted
TOFFEE LAYER:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup firmly packed Baker’s Special sugar
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1/2 cup finely chopped nuts
Preparation :
COOKIE BASE:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In bowl, combine wafer crumbs and Natural Brown sugar. Stir in butter. Press into 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes.
TOFFEE LAYER:
In saucepan, combine butter and Baker’s Special sugar. Cook over moderate heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil. Boil 1 minute. Pour immediately over baked base. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
Let stand 2 minutes. Spread chocolate chips on top. Let stand 2 to 3 minutes until morsels are shiny and soft. Spread evenly. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. Chill about 1/2 hour and cut into 2x1 inch pieces.
